Configuring the Marantz digital audio recorder pmd 700 (r-21 in media office)


1-turn power on
2-press and hold "menu/ store"
3-while "menu" is blinking on the lcd, press "enter"
4-Press the fast forward button to scroll to various menu items until you get to "Algor/ File"
5-press "enter" again
-you should see your sampling rate choice (44.1 or 48 if you are recording for video.
-and your file type (should be PCM)
-and whether you want to record in stereo or mono.

The active choice is the one that is blinking. Active parameters can be changed by using the fast forward button. When you make your choice, press enter.

6-press "enter" again . this takes you to the file menu. Press "enter" to select .wav as your file format.
7-press "menu/ store" to save your changes.

Setting Inputs

Use the "input" button on the unit to toggle between the various input options:

Mono mic: the left input is used to record a mono file
LR Mono mic: use either mic input to record a mono file
Stereo mic: L mic reords on L channel, R mic records on R channel.
DL mono mic: left mic jack records on both channels but the right is reduced by –15db

There are also input options for the line inputs, the built in mic and the line in.

Mounting on the desktop

1-connect to available USB port
2-power on with "i/o menu store" button pressed.
The device will appear on the desktop just like an external hardrive.
