Tascam DR-05 (Y-13-Y-24 in Media Office/ 4D Gear)

The Tascam DR-05 is a portable audio recorder with 2 built-in microphones that records on a Micro SD card . It can be connected to a computer via USB.

Basic Recording

1) After powering on the device press the "record" button.
2) Observe the audio levels on the onscreen LED meter.
3) Use the forward wind (>>l) button to raise the input level or the rewind button (l<<) to lower the input level.
4) The input level should peak at -12db, which is the inverted triangle pointer at the top of the LED meter.
5) Press the play button in the middle of the keypad, this starts the recording process.
6) When done recording, press the stop button.

Your file will have a name like DR0000_0001.wav

Playback

1) Use the forward wind (>>l) button or the rewind button (l<<) to select your file.
2) Press the play button in the middle of the keypad. This will play the selected file.

Deleting a File

1) With your file selected on the LED screen, press the "quick" button and select "delete"

Recording Settings

These devices were pre-set to record at a 48 Khz sampling rate in the .WAV file format. This is optimal for most purposes, especially for use with video.

If you would like to record at a higher sampling rate press "menu" and select "rec settings" scroll to "sample" and use the + button to raise the sampling rate to 96K.

Moving Files To Computer

1) Connect device to computer with USB cable
2) Select "Storage" on LED screen
3) In the finder window find "DR-05" and click on it
4) Go to the "Music" directory, find your .WAV file and drag it onto your hard drive.
